4 Amazing Benefits of CBG Oils

Many of us have heard of the compounds THC and CBD, and are at least somewhat familiar with what each of them is. But how many of us are familiar with CBG? Whether you are just beginning to explore the world of CBD or are the most experienced cannabis user, the usage of these different terms — THC, CBD, and even CBG — can often be confusing. You might find yourself thinking, what is CBG?

CBG has been gaining a lot of popularity over the past few years, similar to that of CBD. In fact, many businesses have been created with the focus of producing this largely-unknown compound. So what does CBG do? How can it benefit me?

What Is CBG?

Similar to its siblings THC and CBD, CBG belongs in the group of cannabinoids. But even though cannabinoids like THC have psychoactive effects, CBG is non-psychoactive. This means it contains none of the mind-altering effects associated with cannabis and marijuana.

Initial findings indicate that CBG has a lot to offer in terms of its potential healing benefits. But if CBG has so many health benefits, why do so few people know about it? The answer to that question is a complicated one, but one rooted in the simple fact that it’s simply a lesser-known compound than it’s cannabinoid cousins.

In comparison to THC and CBD, CBG is relatively unknown to the general public. But it is actually known as the “mother of all cannabinoids” by researchers and scientists.

5 Benefits of CBG Oils

Whether consumed as an edible, tincture, or another application method, CBG offers a multitude of medical effects that are similar to those of CBD. We have gathered five of the top benefits and treatment options for CBG oils:

1. It Works as an Anti-Inflammatory

Many CBG products are actually niche items often associated with skincare and cosmetics due to its ability to act as an anti-inflammatory. Some studies have indicated that the use of CBG may be effective in the treatment of skin conditions like psoriasis or eczema.

2. It Reduces Pain

This falls into a similar category as the anti-inflammatory properties, but it’s a bit more elaborate than that. Similar to CBD, CBG works with the endocannabinoid system in our body to help reduce inflammation as well as interacting with our nervous system to help in pain reduction. Studies conducted on CBG and CBGA have indicated that both may provide pain-relieving benefits. In fact, one study discovered that it’s possible that CBG is even more effective at managing pain than both THC and CBD.

3. It Helps Combat Bacterial Infections

Initial studies into CBG have highlighted the compound’s apparent anti-bacterial properties. There are numerous bacterial infections that could be pretty dangerous for our internal systems, some of which can even be fatal. One of the most deadly of these diseases is MRSA infection (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), which has been shown to be resistant to almost any type of antibiotic. This infection, if left unchecked, can become life-threatening. However, initial findings from studies conducted in late 2009 have shown that the use of the CBG slowed the rise of this bacteria, and in some cases even eliminated it completely.

4. It Reduces Intraocular and Glaucoma Pressure

Patients who suffer from glaucoma have long been associated with the use of medical marijuana, as studies have shown the positive effect it can have at mitigating the symptoms of the disease. Similar to that of THC, you can use CBG to receive similar benefits. The best part is, CBG is non-psychoactive; so you can get all the medical benefits as you would with using THC, but with none of the mind-altering effects. Much like the initial findings on cancer research, CBG still has not been scientifically proven to be 100% effective as a treatment, but initial findings again have been very positive.

CBG and CBD

All this talk of CBG’s benefits may lead you to think, “Why even consider CBD?” Well, there’s a good answer to that question.

Here at CaniBrands, we offer a wide selection of CBD oil products, from tinctures, oral sprays, and softgels, to topical balms and creams. One of the primary benefits of our product line lies in the combination of CBD and CBG contained within them.

All of our full spectrum products contain small amounts of CBG along with other minor cannabinoids, which work to provide maximum benefits to users. So while a CBG product working independently can certainly be beneficial, a full-spectrum CBD product with some CBG included (like CaniBrands’ products) can actually be more beneficial than a CBG isolate alone.

In Closing

Though there are many health benefits that have initially been associated with the use of CBG, we chose to highlight these five benefits as the most profound of the moment. There is still such a large number of people who are unaware of the huge potential CBG possesses in the treatment of various medical conditions. But as we continue to study and explore the vast and complex world of cannabinoids, we will develop a clearer understanding of these compounds and their therapeutic effects.
